Faculty Assistance and Development Program

The raison d'etre of the organization of the Foundation. PSHSFI was incorporated by parent officers of the PSHS PTA together with then Director, Dr. Cleofe M. Bacuñgan on February 11, 1978. The main objective was to help the PSHS "hire and keep the best teachers for the students". Their goal was to create Teaching Chairs to fund salary augmentation to prevent teachers from being pirated by private and international schools.

FACULTY MERIT AWARDS

Teachers in the Main Campus are given recognition for outstanding teaching performance. The Faculty Merit Awards are given annually based on the previous years’ official performance ratings of each teacher, the IPCR (Individual Performance and Commitment Review. The award is funded by the (interest income) of the PSHSFI Teaching Chairs, the Batch 75 Teaching Chair and the TPF EGG Endowment Fund.

Dr. Cleofe M. Bacuñgan Natatanging Guro Awards

Dr. Cleofe M. Bacuñgan Natatanging Guro Awards Recognition of teacher excellence amongst teachers in the PSHS System, in all 16 PSHS campuses. The CMB NG Award is funded by the CMB NG Endowment Fund. Founded in 2007, it was the 25th year silver jubilee legacy project of Batch 1982. In 2023, Batch 1997 agreed to share the responsibility for the continuity of the CMB NG Awards. The Awards are administered by the CMB NG Working Committee. Recognition is given to the Natatanging Guro in the Humanities and Social Sciences, Mathematics and Computer Science and the Natural Sciences, based on stringent criteria, judged by the Selection Panel. The 7th Dr. Cleofe M. Bacuñgan Natatanging Guro Awards will be held in November 2027.

FACULTY DEVELOPMENT

Grants and Teaching Chairs provide teachers with opportunities for excellence through: Tuition Fee Assistance for teachers who pursue graduate studies and.or micro-credential courses, funded by the Vea Grant. Financial assistance, usually fare and accommodation, for teachers who are presenting their research in local or international conferences; teachers who attend local and international conferences; teachers who are the coach and chaperone of students participating in international competitions, funded by grants and in some cases, the General and Administrative Fund.
